Forever With You

I saw a shooting star today
And prayed a wishful prayer
That in the morning I'd open my eyes
And you'd be standing there
To comfort me in times of pain
Hold me up when I'm down
To be that quiet reassuring presence
That will always be around
To hold me through the cold dark night
To keep me safe and warm
Waking me in the morning light
Protecting me from harm
I snap from my reverie
Knowing wishes won't always come true
But oh, what luck I'd love to have
To spend forever with you.
